Fundraising Goals 2024

As a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to empowering and educating Afghan women, Sahar Education relies on individual donations to power our programs. The participants in our programs have overwhelmingly positive results thanks to the support of our community, despite the continued gender apartheid in Afghanistan.

Providing education to girls acts as a catalyst for profound change, setting off a ripple effect that extends far beyond the classroom. When girls are educated, they become empowered individuals, capable of contributing meaningfully to their own goals, families, communities, and the economy.

Investing in girls' education in Afghanistan not only transforms individual lives but also has far-reaching effects that create a more prosperous, equitable, and resilient society for generations to come.

Like a pebble being thrown into a pond, at Sahar we know that even the smallest of efforts create a ripple effect.

How you can participate in our fundraising efforts:

  • As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, Sahar Education relies on individual donations to sustain and expand our programs. Your support helps us make a lasting impact in the lives of girls, their families, and their communities.

  • Bid online from Oct 4 - 10 on a range of exciting auction items, including once-in-a-lifetime travel experiences, artworks, books, event tickets, and more!

  • Join us on Oct 10 at Hugo House or Virtually for an evening celebrating the resilience of Afghan women with a live opera performance! This year’s theme is 'Sing for Freedom.'

Our goal is to raise $100,000 for the following programs in 2025:

In-person Programs

Sahar is continuing to invest in underground education. In 2024, these programs were expanded to provide more in-depth knowledge to our students and to include more participants. In 2025, Sahar Education is committed to providing a pipeline for our students to continue their growth and find new opportunities after graduation. Current 2024 in-person programs serve ~600 participants in Mazar-i-Sharif and Kabul, Afghanistan.

Virtual Programs

Sahar continues to explore ways to bring education and empowerment to girls across Afghanistan who are unable to pursue their dreams due to brutal gender apartheid. This year, we have been testing and developing virtual English lessons and exploring partnerships with accredited online programs. Current tests include 95 students from across Afghanistan. If successful, this program can expand to reach hundreds of girls in 2025.
